Ramadan and Eid in 2027

Ramadan 1448 AH is calculated to begin on Monday, February 8, 2027. In this same calendar, 1 Shawwal falls on Tuesday, March 9, placing the calculated Eid al-Fitr date on March 9.

Later in the year, 9 Dhu al-Hijjah falls on Saturday, May 15 and 10 Dhu al-Hijjah on Sunday, May 16, giving the calculated dates for the Day of Arafah and Eid al-Adha.

Why the Islamic calendar moves through the seasons

The Hijri calendar is lunar and its year is shorter than the Gregorian solar year. That is why Ramadan, Eid and other Islamic dates generally move roughly 10 to 11 days earlier through the Gregorian calendar from one year to the next. Over time, the same Hijri month passes through different seasons.

Why your local date can differ

This page uses a calculated Umm al-Qura calendar because it gives a consistent reference for advance planning and powers the same date logic used across our tools.

Communities can instead rely on local, regional or national crescent-sighting decisions. That can move the locally observed beginning of a Hijri month by a day. When a date affects your own religious observance, follow the authority you normally rely on.
