Islamic Date Today
See today’s Hijri date, the current Islamic month and the next major Islamic date using the Umm al-Qura calendar as a calculation reference.
What does “Islamic date today†mean?
The Hijri calendar is a lunar calendar made up of twelve Islamic months. Because a lunar year is shorter than the Gregorian solar year, Hijri dates move through the seasons over time. This page gives you a practical calculated date for everyday planning.
Why can the Hijri date differ by one day?
Islamic months are tied to the lunar cycle. Calendar calculations are useful for planning, but communities may establish a month’s beginning through local or regional moon-sighting decisions. That can produce a one-day difference between locations or authorities.
Which calendar does this tool use?
The calculation uses the Umm al-Qura calendar exposed by modern browser internationalization data. It is a consistent computational reference, not a replacement for your local mosque or trusted authority when a religious date depends on an observed moon sighting.
